Background Screening/Background Checks

 

This is an investigation into the antecedents of people and companies. It is driven by integrity concerns over relationships.

 

Our Background Screening service covers the following

 

 

» Education Verification

 

Cases of certificate doctoring are becoming rampant in the country as a result of desperation from potential employees to fill the highly limited vacancies in the employment market. Failing to verify important information can result in having unqualified, and therefore, untrustworthy people in positions they do not deserve, thereby jeopardizing the organizations future plans. With our verification exercise, we will; 

 

  • Validate school attended.

  • Period of attendance

  • Disciplinary records listed

  • Qualification obtained

  • Opinions of unlisted referees in school

» Employment Verification

 

Some candidates may be less than truthful about their employment history. Internal research shows this to be the number one discrepancy on resumes and job applications. Our background specialists will verify information on the applicant's resume; validate dates of employment, position, reason for termination and eligibility for re-hire. We interview former supervisors who had personal knowledge of the applicant's skills and qualifications. In some cases we are able to find gaps in employment and uncover other places the individual may have been employed. The key elements are;

 

  • Name of employer

  • Period of employment

  • Position held

  • Disciplinary record listed

  • Eligibility for rehire

  • Opinions of boss/supervisor/colleagues

 

» National Youth Service Corp (NYSC)

In Nigeria, there is a compulsory one year of youth service after graduation during which youths are posted to work in many places across the country. Our background specialists will validate

  • Year of youth service

  • Place of primary employment

  • Opinions of employers and colleagues

  • Disciplinary record listed

» Reference Interviews

 

A verification of business and/or personal credentials is a valuable source of information about the applicant's general image as perceived by others. Results may offer insight into the candidate's trustworthiness, reliability, competency and integrity. All questions can be customized to the unique needs of our clients but will normally include;

  • Name of listed referees

  • Number of years been affiliated to Subject, and in what capacity

  • Willingness to act as Subjects referees and understands implications of action.

  • Opinion on Subject

» Address Verification

 

We do thorough neighborhood check 

  • Validate residential addresses

  • Obtain opinions of neighbors and other unlisted referees

» Criminal Checks

 

We obtain criminal traces from police stations with jurisdiction to Subject’s area of residence and previous places of employment. We also peruse court records for traces of court appearances and convictions. We must however warn that presently in Nigeria due to improper keeping of records this area cannot be carried with certainty.

» Comprehensive background investigation

 

Certain positions which are considered as very sensitive may require personalities whose antecedents in all areas demand thorough verification. The reason for this is to ensure that such positions are filled with people of high integrity and character. The verifications carried out in this instance painstakingly cover virtually the person’s life from his birth to his present circumstance. The outcome of the exercise gives an interesting picture about the subject.

 

We carry out different levels of comprehensive checks based on the type of access the Subject will have to sensitive information. The different levels are;

 

Level 1

Verification of tertiary education certificate and last employment

 

Level 2

Verification of tertiary educational certificate including validation of dates attended and degrees/certificates obtained; Local employment checks with up to two previous employers in Nigeria, including period of employment, position held, any disciplinary records listed, opinions of supervisors and colleagues in addition to supplied references;

 

Level 3

Verification of all educational qualifications including high school, local employment checks with all previous Nigerian employers including period of employment, position held, disciplinary records listed and opinions of supervisors and colleagues in addition to supplied references.

 

Level 4

Complete verification of Subject’s antecedents in all areas including validation of bio-data and identifying criminal traces
